ESKAMON is the new collaboration project between Amon Tobin (Ninja Tune) & Eskmo (Warp, Planet Mu, Ancestor). Fine Objects is the first single by the duo that’s set for release on Eskmo’s own imprint Ancestor Media.

Fine Objects is the result of the pair’s unique take on sonic exploration and the manipulation of field recordings. From the onset, the two went out with a recorder, gathering sounds from around the house, yard and studio. Material recorded out of the studio included sounds from a parking garage elevator, a broken harp and the droning tones from a discarded piano. These were combined with more home-centric sounds to form the central theme to the song - Eskamon Press Release

Both the MP3 and WAV versions of the Fine Objects are now available for purchase at Eskamon.com, Amontobin.com and all the usual digital retailer spots.

While gawking at the Blue Steel models of a men's magazine, we chanced upon an article featuring our local DJ hero, Brendon P. The following is an excerpt from his telling observation of the club music-scape in Singapore.

Electro, Top 40s and hip hop are now the mainstay in many clubs and bars. Even many trance acts are moving towards remixes of Top 40 hits, like Tiësto working with the Black Eye Peas. I'm not saying this is neccessarily bad for the clubbing scene in Singapore - the underground sounds of house, breaks, techno and trance would not be possible without the 'overground' mainstream sounds of disco, pop and rock that are sampled. But when club owners and investors get too caught up with the dollars and cents of a night out, it means the DJs have to keep their music safe.
